Metal Collection For Homes And Businesses
Our London metal collection service is designed for customers who need unwanted metal removed promptly without loading it themselves. We work with householders, landlords, offices, shops, facilities teams, trades and building contractors.
The easiest way to start is to send wide photographs showing the full quantity, plus close-ups of any unusually heavy or large pieces. We confirm whether the material suits our cage van, whether dismantling is needed and whether the collection is charged as a metal-only job or as part of a mixed clearance.
What Metal Can Be Collected
Typical collections include radiators, copper pipe, steel frames, bed frames, shelving, filing cabinets, bicycles, tools, metal garden furniture, racking, commercial fixtures, cable trays and clean fabrication offcuts. Items must be safe to handle and accessible to the collection team.
Large safes, machinery, vehicle parts, oil-contaminated metal, sharp fabrication waste and exceptionally dense loads require separate assessment. Please show dimensions, estimated weight and access in the quote video.
Metal, Appliances And WEEE Are Not The Same
Fridges, freezers, air-conditioning equipment, televisions, computers, batteries and other electrical items can require separate treatment. Their scrap value does not automatically cover collection or specialist disposal. Disclose every appliance in advance so it can be priced and routed correctly.
Gas bottles, extinguishers, fuel containers and pressurised cylinders are never treated as ordinary scrap metal. They must be identified before booking.
Is Scrap Metal Collection Free?
Not every metal collection is free and we do not promise payment for scrap. Collection cost depends on quantity, metal type, handling time, travel, parking, loading, disposal requirements and whether non-metal items are included. A clean, accessible quantity of valuable metal is different from a mixed garage or builders-waste load.
Send photographs and we will explain the commercial position clearly before you book: charged collection, collection included within a wider clearance, or another agreed arrangement.
Access, Weight And Safe Loading
Metal can be much heavier than it looks. Tell us whether items are upstairs, in a basement, behind a property, fixed to walls or too long to pass through doorways. The crew must be able to move the agreed items without unsafe lifting or damaging communal areas.
For dense trade loads, we may split the collection, restrict the load size or recommend a specialist vehicle. This is safer and prevents overloading.
How The Collection Works
- Send photographs or video: show every item, access route and parking position.
- Receive a clear quote: we confirm the agreed metal and any mixed waste or specialist items.
- Choose a collection slot: same-day or next-day may be available, depending on route and capacity.
- We load and remove: the crew takes the agreed items and leaves the collection area reasonably swept.
- Responsible onward handling: the load follows appropriate licensed waste and recycling routes.
Clear Volume Pricing For Suitable Loads
Our published cage-van prices are a useful starting point for ordinary, light and mixed waste. The final quote depends on the photographs or video, waste type, weight, access, parking, loading time, specialist items and the number of loads required. Heavy rubble, concrete, bricks, tiles, dense metal and other weight-led loads are assessed separately so the correct vehicle and disposal route can be planned.
Up to approx. 2-yard skip / estate-car boot space
Up to approx. 4-yard skip
Up to approx. 6–8-yard skip
Up to approx. 8–13-yard skip
Up to approx. 13–18-yard cage-van load
Important: these guide prices apply where the material, weight, access and loading time suit the selected load size. Sofas, mattresses, refrigeration equipment, tyres, paint, gas bottles and other specialist items can have additional disposal charges. We explain these before the collection is confirmed.
What To Send For An Accurate Quote
A clear photo or short video usually gives us the information needed to quote quickly. Please include:
- All waste from more than one angle, including anything hidden behind other items.
- The postcode and preferred collection date.
- Floor level, lift availability, stairs, narrow hallways, garden access or loading restrictions.
- Whether parking is directly outside and whether a loading bay, permit or concierge booking is required.
- Any very heavy, electrical, upholstered, refrigerated, liquid, sharp or unusual items.
- Whether items need dismantling before they can be removed.
Accurate information protects the agreed price and helps us send the right crew, vehicle and equipment.
Licensed And Responsible Waste Removal
London Waste Van operates as a licensed waste carrier. Collected material is taken through appropriate licensed waste and recycling routes. Commercial customers, landlords and trades can request the collection details needed for their records, including waste-transfer documentation where applicable.
We do not knowingly mix hazardous or restricted material into ordinary waste. Asbestos, clinical waste, unknown chemicals, fuel, pressurised containers and similar items must be disclosed before booking so we can confirm whether we can help or whether a specialist contractor is required.
